The Needles Campground offers striking desert scenery, well‑spaced sites and generally quiet conditions, making it a good choice for stargazing and a peaceful stay. Restrooms are reported clean with running water, and the campground has both reservation and first‑come loops plus basic trash and recycling facilities. Expect limited or uneven shade and very hot summer temperatures, so bring sun protection and plenty of water. Cell service is often unavailable. Some nearby hikes require route‑finding, ladders and scrambling—novice hikers should exercise caution. High‑clearance vehicles are useful for backcountry access.

📖 About This Campground

The Needles Campground in Canyonlands National Park offers 26 primitive RV and tent camping sites. First come first served in the Needles District. Group sites also available. Water is available seasonally. This campground tends to fill up during peak seasons in spring and fall. The remote location dictates that you come prepared; have a printed map and plenty of provisions. Pit toilets are available. Sites are all backins but many can handle even large RVs. Multiple hiking trails depart from this location. Enjoy majestic views from camp with sites that back up to a rock wall tucked into natural shrubs. Bathrooms with water and sinks are located in each camping loop (Campground A and B) As of 2017 reservations will be REQUIRED for sites in Loop A during peak seasonal periods in spring and fall.
