Muir Woods National Monument offers a peaceful, otherworldly walk among towering coastal redwoods. Trails are well maintained: the main loop and boardwalks are relatively flat and family-friendly, while steeper connector paths offer longer, more challenging hikes. Visitors note helpful rangers and a useful visitor center, plus a small cafe/gift shop and restrooms on site (prices at the cafe can be high). Access is controlled—vehicle or shuttle reservations and limited parking mean you should book ahead, arrive early, and download confirmations (cell service is spotty). Expect crowds at peak times, but the forest remains a rewarding escape.

📖 About This Campground
Muir Woods National Monument is a serene sanctuary of ancient coast redwoods located in Marin County, California, approximately 12 miles north of San Francisco. Spanning 554 acres, it preserves one of the few remaining old-growth redwood forests in the Bay Area. Established in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt, the monument is named in honor of naturalist John Muir.
