Really wanted to love this place but at $40 per night we just couldn't. Great lake, full hookup sites, and a close by Verizon tower all add up to what we want but in the end $40 for a state park is ridiculous. No wonder the sites were all sitting empty. Come on California!

What campers say
Millerton Lake State Recreation Area offers a roomy, lakefront camping experience with clear access for boats and marked launches. Many campers praise clean restrooms, running water and pay showers; a campground host is usually available. Sites range from shady spots to more open loops, so arriving early and bringing shade can help. Boating, pontooning and sunsets are highlights, though water levels can vary and docks can fill up. Weekends may be busy and noisy. Expect basic amenities and mixed reports of occasional porta‑potty upkeep; overall a solid choice for lake-focused camping with tradeoffs depending on timing and site.
