Mead Creek State Forest Campground is a small, rustic riverside site offering secluded, primitive camping along the Manistique River. It’s popular with canoeists and anglers, has a concrete canoe launch/boat access and several sites that overlook the river. There is no electricity or cell service in much of the campground, but porta‑potties are maintained. The approach is on a gravel/dirt road that’s driveable. This spot is excellent for stargazing and solitude, though insect activity can be intense (mosquitoes and horseflies), so come prepared with repellant. Expect basic facilities and trade convenience for quiet, natural surroundings.
