Little Manatee River State Park is one of the prettiest state parks I've been to in Florida. Only water and electric hook-ups but a convenient dump station. There are 30 RV sites, 4 equestrain sites with stables, a primitive youth camp, playground, picnic area, group camp area, bike rentals, horse and hiking trails, canoe launch. Each big, wide, wooded site has a table and fire ring. From the entrance to the state park there's a 2 mile drive to the campground through wooded area where we saw deer and other wildlife. There are ranger led programs and activities. About 40 minutes from Sarasota, it's not close to shopping but very quiet and relaxing.

Little Manatee River State Park offers varied short hikes, a campground with fairly private sites, and river access with kayak/canoe launches. Trails pass pine flatwoods and oxbows; many are sandy and can be soft underfoot, which gives a good workout but can be tiring. The park also supports equestrian use—some routes feel more suited to horses than hikers—and a few trails may be closed or hard to follow due to sparse markers. Restrooms and campground facilities are generally kept clean and staff are friendly. Wildlife viewing is possible from the river or water trails, though sightings and occasional distant noise levels can vary.
