📖 About This Campground

Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds Campground in Helena Montana provides partial (30 amp electric) and primitive tent and RV camping in a designated campground on the fair property. The fairgrounds are well kept with the standard country fair provisions including horse stalls and riding areas. The fairgrounds are also home to a public park with playground equipment and picnic tables. Located in a quiet area the grounds can be very peaceful and with the reasonable nightly rate the park is a suitable choice for travelers passing through Helena (about 2 miles off Interstate 15). Water spigots are available on the property to fill up your tanks. Picnic tables and fire rings are placed at each site. Registration is handled through the main office located next to the ticket booth at the main grandstand (the lot out front is large enough for any size rig to pull in and out of). The office is open weekdays until 5PM local time; an on-sight attendant is available outside that window. Across the street from the fairgrounds is a ball field location that hosts numerous annual and seasonal tournaments. All the sites are backins in the designated camping area. Dirt roads and site pads in the campground; the main fairgrounds roads are all paved. No dump station on site. The RV loops are in an open setting. Tent sites do have some shade trees. A shower house is available in the main restroom located a bit too far from the campground for an easy walk.

Camping Pro

$20 per night for water and electric. The campground is out back and is not trimmed and proper but for the price it was fine. There was a fire ring and picnic bench but we enjoyed riding the bikes around the very large and lightly used grounds. There is a great public park on site with a classic army tank from World War II. Known as the M7 Priest it appears that these are relatively rare as most were destroyed after the war. Could not get a hold of the Lincoln RV Park (why would anyone answer a phone??) so stayed here instead. Very glad we did and will do it again in the future when passing thru. Verizon was strong.
