What campers say

Desert Tortoise Campground offers strong lake views, well-spaced sites, and friendly staff. Many visitors praise the clean bathrooms and maintained grounds, though cleanliness can vary at times. Wildlife encounters—especially wild burros and donkeys—are common; secure food and expect occasional nighttime disturbance. Sites are often unlevel and some spots require a hike down to the water. The park is popular in winter, so book well in advance. Bring insect repellent, water shoes for lake access, and be prepared for generator noise from nearby rigs. Overall a scenic, reasonably priced county campground with practical tradeoffs.

Sites are unlevel but the location is pretty. Fun hikes in the area and the adjacent Marina brings civility to "roughing" it. Rate of $25 per night for partial hookups.
