Lake Margrethe State Forest Campground is a scenic, small lakeside campground with shaded, well-spaced sites—some drive-in and several walk-in or hilltop options—that offer clear, shallow water good for kids and swimming. Vault toilets and hand-pump drinking water are available; toilets are generally reported clean. The site is largely peaceful and uncrowded outside peak times, but there are limited sites and spots can fill on busy weekends. Note occasional noise from a nearby military training area and posted PFAS advisories for the lake; visitors should weigh the excellent waterfront setting against those issues.
