Really nice state park with easy to access back in and pull through sites. The state bird is very active here so try to arrive during a sunny and windy time not during the humid evening like we did! Only complaint and it is a deal breaker for us was that the water contained a huge amount of iron leaving our sinks, showers, and bodies with a red tinge after only a few minutes. The place is sparsely used and even allows seasonal stays. $35 per night paid at the iron ranger.

Lac qui Parle State Park offers wide, well-maintained campsites with excellent lake views and memorable sunsets. Upper campground and camper cabins are roomy and have modern restrooms and individual showers; the first loop includes rare full hookups while a second loop is mostly electric. Trails are mowed and lead to the notable giant cottonwood and scenic overlooks. Tradeoffs: sites are largely open with limited shade and the lower campground is more wooded but reportedly less maintained; group camps may lack running water and can be mosquito-prone. Overall a peaceful, well-kept park good for hiking, birding, and lake views.
