Horse Creek Campground, located in the Shoshone National Forest near Dubois, Wyoming, offers a tranquil camping experience along the banks of Horse Creek. This small, rustic campground is ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat in a natural setting.
Amenities and Features:
- Campsites: The campground features nine sites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof storage locker. The maximum spur length is 32 feet, accommodating tents and smaller RVs.
- Facilities: Vault toilets are available for campers. Please note that drinking water is not provided; visitors should bring their own supply.
- Recreational Opportunities:
- Fishing: Horse Creek and nearby streams offer plentiful fishing opportunities for anglers
- Hiking: The surrounding area provides access to various trails suitable for hiking and nature exploration.
- Wildlife Viewing: The region is home to diverse wildlife, including deer, elk, and various bird species.
- Directions: From Dubois, take Forest Road 285 north for approximately 12 miles to reach the campground.
- Elevation: The campground is situated at an elevation of around 7,500 feet, resulting in cooler temperatures, especially during the night.
- Fees: The camping fee is $20 per night for a single unit.
- Usage: The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and experiences medium usage.
- Stay Limit: Campers are allowed to stay for up to 16 days.
