Grass Lake State Forest Campground is a small, rustic, and mostly quiet campground tucked off a few miles of dirt road. About 15 well‑spaced, wooded sites (some right on the river/dam) offer picnic tables, grills and fire rings; a pavilion and a cul‑de‑sac area suit small groups. Water is via a pitcher pump and vault toilets are provided; payment is envelope-style and staff check periodically. There are no hookups or dump stations. The river downstream of the dam is shallow and popular for water play. Expect bugs and basic facilities; a few visitors noted intermittent maintenance and rough access roads.

Grass Lake State Forest Campground in Thompsonville Michigan provides 15 sites for tent and small trailer use. All sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. Located on Grass Lake Flooding with access to the Betsie River. Boating, canoeing, and fishing. Vault toilets and well.
