What campers say
Governor Thompson State Park offers quiet, well-maintained camping with large, private sites, extensive hiking trails, and water access for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and boating. Campers frequently praise clean central bathhouses, friendly staff, good RV dump and water facilities, and abundant dark skies for stargazing and occasional aurora viewing. Sites are largely rustic without hookups, with accessible pit toilets and shared shower buildings nearby. Wildlife and ticks are present, and the small sandy beach can be weedy or have geese droppings at times, so plan accordingly. Overall it’s a scenic, family-friendly park with practical amenities.
