What campers say
Governor Earl Peshtigo River State Forest offers a quiet, wooded camping experience centered on a reservoir with several boat‑in island sites. Campgrounds feel secluded with pleasant fire rings and basic amenities, and the area is popular for fishing, hiking and family water activities. Expect lake ambient noise and seasonal insect activity—mosquitoes and ticks can be significant—and limited services: firewood may not be sold on site and some pit/composting toilets are minimal, so bring supplies and TP. Boat landings are shallow and paddling to some sites can take about 20 minutes. Occasional loud boaters have been reported.
