Golden Eagle Lodge is a small, family-run lakefront resort and campground north of Grand Marais that consistently draws repeat guests. Sites, cabins and bathhouses are kept very clean; cabins are cozy with wood-burning fireplaces and kitchen basics. Trails (hiking and groomed XC) and a peaceful dock make it strong for outdoor activities—canoe, pontoon and boat rentals are available, and fishing and a sauna are noted. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Practical trade-offs: it books early, is about a 40-minute drive to town, and some cabins require steps and basic supplies (soap, TP, paper towels) may be worth bringing.
