What campers say
Gnat Creek Campground is a very small, walk‑in site grouping near Astoria with only a few first‑come, no‑reservation campsites (about three or four). Sites are a short walk to a clear creek good for dipping or fishing, and trails to a nearby hatchery are well maintained though can be steep, rooty and muddy. Facilities are basic: pit outhouses, no running water, no RV hookups and no trash receptacles, so plan to pack out waste. The setting is scenic—wet forest with visible reforestation and interesting rocks—and generally quiet, though occasional highway noise and passersby are reported.
