What campers say

Fort Point State Park offers a compact, scenic coastal experience with short walking trails, picnic spots, a rocky beach and views where the Penobscot River meets the bay. The lighthouse is privately owned so tours aren't available, but the bell house, fort earthworks and interpretive signs provide historical interest. A small self-pay entrance fee (cash) is charged. Parking and paved access have improved, but many wooded paths and beach approaches are uneven and not fully wheelchair accessible. Facilities are basic; restrooms are reportedly outhouse-style, and the pier or dock may be closed for repairs at times.
