Fairport State Recreation Area sits on the Mississippi with boat ramps, fishing access and scenic river views. Campsites are generally flat, gravel, well-spaced and affordable, many offering electric and water hookups plus a dump; picnic tables and fire rings are common. Visitors note clean restrooms and showers at times but also occasional facility issues. Tap water has occasionally appeared discolored, so bringing drinking water is advisable. The small park is peaceful overall, though nearby train traffic can be loud at night. Host helpfulness is reported as mixed. Good choice for river access if you accept those tradeoffs.
