Colonial Creek Campground

Colonial Creek Campground in North Cascade National Park offers 142 tent and RV camping sites adjacent to Diablo Lake. One of the most scenic places to visit in the world Diablo Lake and this area of the Cascades provide majestic views of the surrounding mountains and access to miles of trails into the wilderness. The popular campground has two main areas divided by US 20. The main camping area on the south side of the road has several loops situated in a heavily wooded area (so wooded in fact that it can be nearly dark mid-day). There are no hookups at any of the sites and most are best suited to tent and small RV camping. The access roads are reasonably large and there are both pull thru and backin sites. Only a select few walk-in tent camping sites are located along the lakes edge (very popular). The dump station is located on the south side of US 20 and is easily accessed. The restrooms offer flush toilets and running water. Water fills are located in various areas. Due to its accessibility and amazing location this campground tends to draw a more urban crowd; as a result it can be noisier and a little more rowdy. The north-side camping area is smaller and has the trail-head for Thunder Knob Trail. There is no pay kiosk on this side which means it tends to get a lot more looky-loo traffic from people searching for a place to park for the trail. A boat ramp is available. Paved roads with dirt/ gravel sites. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site.
