The Clearwater Group Site, located within the Shoshone National Forest in Wyoming, offers a spacious camping area ideal for groups seeking a natural setting near the North Fork of the Shoshone River.
Location and Access:
- Proximity to Landmarks: Situated approximately 32 miles west of Cody, Wyoming, and about 21 miles from the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, the site provides convenient access to both the city and the park.
- Directions: From Cody, travel west on U.S. Highway 14/16/20 for 32 miles. The campground is located on the south side of the highway, adjacent to the river.
- Capacity: The group site can accommodate up to 50 people, making it suitable for large gatherings.
- Facilities: The site includes picnic tables and fire rings, providing essential amenities for group camping.
- Natural Setting: Partial shade from surrounding trees enhances the camping experience, and the proximity to the Shoshone River offers opportunities for fishing and scenic views.
- Booking: Reservations for the Clearwater Group Site can be made through Recreation.gov.
- Cost: The fee is $60 per night for the group site, which includes access to sites 9, 10, and 11.
- Seasonal Availability: The campground is typically open from May 20 to September 6.
- Restrictions: Special Order 04-00-104 related to food storage and sanitation applies. Recreational use of off-road vehicles is prohibited within developed campgrounds; to operate on Forest Service roads, all off-road vehicles must have proper state registration or a Wyoming ORV sticker on display.
