What campers say

Catalina State Park sits in a scenic desert foothills setting with extensive hiking and mountain‑biking trails for a range of abilities, picnic areas, and nearby scenic drives and attractions. Campgrounds offer water and electrical hookups, a dump station, and restrooms/showers; staff and volunteers run regular nature programs and occasional music events. The park is convenient to Tucson amenities and dog‑friendly. Practical tradeoffs: some campsites and the Ringtail overflow loop can feel crowded, toilets and additional facilities have been mentioned for improvement, and fees or annual passes may seem steep to occasional visitors.

📖 About This Campground

Catalina State Park Campground north of Tucson Arizona offer 120 sites, 95 with electric and water and 25 without hookups. RV dump stations are available in the park, there is no limit on RV length, and the max stay limit is 14 nights. Recently repaved roads and parking pads the two loop campground is very well designed with excellent spacing between sites, easy navigation for RVs and all while maintaining a state park feel. Multiple trails meander throughout the park including popular hiking and mountain biking routes. Set at the base of the mountains sunsets are amplified by vibrant colors on the mountainside. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Small desert trees dot the campground and provide some privacy between sites. The restrooms have running water and hot showers. Catalina State Park Campground is located in a suburban area but the design and planning of the community deceives this concept; everything is built to be hidden. Reservations can be made and are recommended during peak seasons but full conditions are limited by the max stay limit of 14 nights.

This campground is at the base of the Catalina Mountains. It's a gorgeous area! The camp spots do not have a lot of shade or restrictions between you and the other campers but enough to not feel on top of each other. Most spots have water/electric. No sewer and only BBQ stands. No fire pits. The bathrooms are very nice with hot showers and well maintained.
