At Cascade Caverns, small guided tours (about an hour, offered hourly) explore a cool, well-preserved cave with interesting formations and cave life - bats, salamanders and occasional frogs are commonly seen. Guides are generally knowledgeable, friendly, and good with families; groups are often small, which helps visibility and questions. The site is family-friendly and conveniently near San Antonio. Expect a descent/ascent with roughly 100 steps, so accessibility may be limited for some visitors. Staff in the shop are welcoming, and there are simple activities for kids. Overall a rewarding, low-tech cave experience.
