Adding to my previous review I want to make note about the lovely public beach that is in walking distance of this RV Park as I mention it is a public beach has about 1/4 Mile of sand along Lake Erie and a very shallow water front we’re depending upon wave action that make be calm or wavy during our stay the water was 75 degrees and had been tested by the Ohio agency responsible for monitoring water quality. From their online information they claim to test the water once-weekly so check the current status of the most recent water quality test before going in the light another note about this place not noted earlier is that you have a very unique view looking West towards than a nuclear reactor situated about 5 miles from your location. This reactor is slated to be turned off in 2020 and decommissioned but nonetheless the cooling tower is a massive Landmark on the horizon and during our stay was spewing out its cloud of steam.

Very cool place to stay during our 4th of July visit to the area. A lot of the review sites out there have “grouchy old people” reviews so I will give you one from a 40 year old civilian… enter off Highway 5 at the railroad crossing, there is no stop light there but the entrance is between two brick post. That road, that you turn on to, follow it all the way down to the end. Make a right hand turn and drive a short distance to the building and parking lot on the left.

You need to walk in and check in at the office to get keys to the locked utility boxes. After that you Circle back out, make a left at the stop sign, follow the fence line on your left and come to the RV area on the right.

The RV area is really well maintained with paved roads and back in sites. The parking pads, all of them, are extremely long and wide enough for your tires to be on the pavement. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring there is nice grass all around. You are in walking distance to a public beach and Pier, the restroom facility, a laundry and, the most unique part of this experience, the old Army equipment for display including helicopters and tanks. There is also one of the 48 Merci Train cars donated by the people of France after World War II as a gesture of appreciation.

Facilities are all well kept military style. It is an active National Guard post which means it is mostly deserted. 5 weeks out of every year there is the national shooting competition for military and civilian shooters. We paid $45 a night and would absolutely stay again. Verizon coverage was excellent and fast
