Many sites have lake views, but the terrain is rocky and steep so sites are often uneven—better suited to RVs than tents—and can be windy. Vault toilets are available and often reported as clean, though facilities are limited and not frequently serviced; there is no on-site potable water. Raccoons are a common nighttime nuisance, so secure food. Fishing reports vary, and a few visitors mentioned occasional litter and lax enforcement of rules; some found online reservations awkward.

Black Beach Campground is located on the east side of Alcova Reservoir, offering 20 campsites, including one ADA-accessible site. This campground is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, providing stunning views of the reservoir, access to fishing and boating, and a peaceful natural environment for relaxation. Note that water and utilities are not available at the campground, so it’s a primitive camping experience.
