Belle Isle State Park offers scenic Rappahannock River views, wooded and riverside trails and abundant wildlife (deer, bald eagles). Campground sites are roomy and private with water and electric hookups for many sites, plus well-designed dump stations; no full hookups noted. Rangers and staff are frequently described as friendly, and facilities (bathhouse, visitor center) are kept clean. Summer visitors should plan for mosquitoes and biting insects and consider bikes or kayaks to explore more of the park; some guests also reported restricted beach/parking gate hours in the evening that limit late sunset access.
