The park is centered on a clear, spring-fed pool that many visitors call the highlight—excellent for snorkeling, diving, and spotting fish, turtles and waterfowl. Campground and RV sites are generally well maintained with clean bathrooms, showers, covered picnic tables and helpful staff, though some sites can be tight for large rigs and occasional electrical issues have been reported. Parking and picnic seating fill up quickly, and nearby dining is limited, so bring provisions and reserve in advance. The cool, deep water and historic setting make it a memorable stop when passing through.
