Choices are a bit slim in Carlsbad and we were looking for an inexpensive, clean and simple place to call home for a few days while we visited the nearby Carlsbad Caverns National Park. We arrived without reservations and met very nice onsite managers who were happy to check us in. The daily rate was $35 per night but they offered us a discount to $30 per night (the more appropriate rate given the current state of the park). We don't need a ton of thrills. We just want solid electric, water and sewer service and a usable Verizon signal. They nailed it on 4 of the 5. Water pressure was a bit low otherwise everything else was perfect. Verizon 4G was a solid and fast 5 bars! We liked the out of town location, not big fans of Carlsbad, and the easy access to the relief route heading north towards Roswell to avoid the city. They are still building out the park so it is pretty bare bones right now but worked for us. Compared to the other options in the area this is the nicest reasonably priced spot in the area. We will stay here next time we pass thru. It is adjacent to the highway but we found the noise to not be that bad with a vehicle every couple minutes or so... and we were in the site closest to the road!

AOK RV Retreat in Carlsbad New Mexico offers full hookup RV sites in a newly opened RV park. Situated 5 miles east of downtown off US 62 the park features 50, 30, 20 amp electric boxes, sewer and water hookups. Packed gravel roads and sites the sites are very wide and large enough to handle any RV. Still under construction the location provides short and long term rates ($35 per night for short term).
Eventually the owners would like to have a Las Vegas, NV themed RV Park that brings a little touch of Las Vegas to Southwest, New Mexico.
Note the facility can be easy to miss. We recommend routing via the GPS coordinates rather than address. At night the entrance is very easy to miss as it is not well lit. Situated out in the plains the park is an affordable option for self contained RV campers looking to stay near Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
