What campers say

Altair Campground is described as a small, primitive site with some campground-style amenities—spacious sites, bathrooms with flush toilets and running water, and a simple pay-by-envelope system. Visitors note quiet, courteous neighbors and easy access for hiking or biking to nearby hot springs; some recall visiting there years ago. A significant caveat is that reports say the campground was closed after road and campsite damage from floods in December 2014, so availability may be limited. Expect basic facilities, self-service payment, and potential restrictions or seasonal closures related to post-flood conditions.

Since the removal of the dam upriver winter run off has worked to rapidly remove the deposited silt and when combined with seasonal high flows has destroyed this campground. Currently the location is closed with no timetable on re-opening. NOTE THIS CAMPGROUND IS CLOSED!!!
