What campers say
Alamo Lake State Park is a remote desert reservoir popular for quiet fishing, kayaking and stargazing. Campsites and cabins are described as spacious and generally clean, with cabins offering electric and AC and some sites providing water/electric hookups; restrooms and showers are available though porta-potty conditions can vary. The lake is often low and there’s limited shade or extensive hiking, so bring supplies—the nearest services are many miles away. Wildlife viewing is a highlight (burros/donkeys, a variety of birds, occasional fox or coyote). Expect a primitive, peaceful experience; occasional noise or dated facilities have been reported.
