We lucked out at this park. Luckily I made reservations in advance instead of paying attention to what they promised would be available first come first served sites… apparently the powers that be at the public agency decided at the last minute to close all the first come first serve sites! As for us we had a huge pull thru facing the office area and enjoyed our 2 weeks stay at the park. Great bike trails throughout, fun hikes along the lake, and all surrounded by urban Aurora/ Denver.
We fit our huge rig and two vehicles well within the site space. Everything worked great. This first loop is the “quietest” of the camping areas. The others are further uphill (not a big hill) yet closer to the main roadway out front. The roadway is heavily trafficked so lots of road noise is possible depending upon wind.
There is, apparently, a coyote problem at this park. They are known to steal small animals from people in the park. We ran in to one of the coyotes in the field behind the southern loop while out on a walk. While it was leery of us it was not afraid of us. Be careful and mindful of your small pets and small children. In addition to the coyote we saw signs of foxes, had deer in our front area and watched tons of bird life.
Overall a great place to stay in the area.
