What campers say
Zippel Bay State Park offers sandy lakeshore and a beach-like feel on Lake of the Woods, with a swim beach, boat ramp/marina and good fishing. Campgrounds are generally quiet and scenic, with strong wildlife and birding opportunities and well-maintained trails along the shore. Practical trade-offs: some loops (Lady Slipper) have small, closely spaced sites while the Anglers loop is better for larger RVs. A few visitors report abundant biting flies at times, and others would like more developed services, restrooms and day-use facilities. Overall it’s valued for peaceful lakeside camping and shoreline access.
