Willow River Campground is a low-cost, no-frills site with well-spaced, maintained campsites—many have picnic tables, fire rings and some offer river views, a small dock and a dirt boat launch useful for fishing, kayaking or paddleboarding. Vault toilets and a couple of water pumps provide basic services; there are no electrical or utility hookups. Sites include walk-in spots that require carrying gear and a few accommodate larger RVs, though narrow loops and low branches can be tight. It’s generally quiet and private, but proximity to I-35 produces noticeable road noise, and occasional gate closures have been reported.
