What campers say

William B. Umstead State Park offers extensive multi‑use trails through mixed‑canopy forest with abundant flora and wildlife, plus a lake for short breaks. Trails are well maintained, wide packed‑gravel or dirt routes that are bike‑friendly, generally well signed, and include water/tool stations. Park staff and rangers are frequently described as helpful, and parking and restroom facilities are clean. Visitors should note some routes are long or moderately hilly and can have exposed roots or uneven footing, so bring sturdy shoes and allow extra time for longer loops.
