What campers say
Wawona Campground offers a relaxed, riverside setting in the southern part of Yosemite, with many sites backing onto a clear stream that's popular for swimming in warm afternoons. Sites range from shaded and quiet (notably in some loops) to more exposed, and both tent and RV camping are common. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, bear boxes, picnic tables, fire rings with grates, and nearby RV dump/water fill; there are no showers. Expect a roughly 40–50 minute drive to Yosemite Valley and some early-morning road noise. Overall it's a peaceful base for Mariposa Grove and southern-park hikes, but plan for shade, mosquitoes, and cooler river temperatures.
