Water Canyon Recreation Area

BLM designated recreation area offering free camping for up to 3 days. 5 miles outside the core of town the road up is paved for the first 2.5 miles and then becomes dirt for the last. Well travelled and visited by locals and other travelers. Nice creek running alongside the pull outs, where the campsites are located. There are designated sites but also, being public lands plenty of space to just park and stay. Pit toilets are available and designated campsites offer picnic tables and fire rings. Hiking, off roading and even a disc golf course. Great place to stay. As a bonus there is cell service with Verizon. Bonus is the gas station at the corner of miner offers cheaper fuel, has a small store and a clean inexpensive laundry. A community playground is located just before the road changes to dirt.
