32 full-hookup campsites with a dump station and six group campsites will be open and ready for campers, according to Park Supervisor Randy Denter. The 38 new sites will add to the 16 primitive sites the park opened with in 2018. All are first-come, first-served.

What campers say
Walker River State Recreation Area runs along the East Walker River and offers a new, developing campground with RV sites that include water and 30/50A electrical hookups (no on-site sewer; dump station available). Facilities include a visitor center with landscaped lawn, restrooms and hot showers, and helpful rangers. The park is remote — reached by a maintained dirt road — and is a strong base for fishing, river floats, OHV riding and mountain access. Weekends can be noisy from off‑road traffic; weekdays are quieter. Note: ticks have been reported, so take precautions for people and pets.
