Vega State Park offers a clean, well-run campground with spacious, private sites, raised gravel tent pads, and tidy restrooms. Park staff and rangers are consistently noted as helpful, and showers are free. The lake provides fishing and boating opportunities, though water levels have been low at times and some shoreline areas can look unappealing; paddling may be limited. The park is popular for OHV/side-by-side riding with extensive maintained trails and many narrow gates; higher primitive routes are rocky and can be unsuitable for trailers. Expect quiet, wildlife viewing, limited cell service away from the dam, and a mostly dirt/gravel loop road that can be rough for sedans.
