Thompson's West End Park is a well-kept municipal campground on Lake Superior with roomy lakeside sites, gravel drives, grassy shade, a beach, boat launch and shoreline trail. Facilities include coin-operated showers, toilets, a dump station and an artesian well with multiple spigots, though the well can be busy. Many sites are seasonal and most spots are first-come, first-served with an on-site registration shed, pay envelopes, and cash-or-check payment only. Expect minimal hookups at non-premium sites; premium waterfront spots are larger and pricier. The setting and easy town access make it a pleasant, practical stop despite limited modern hookups.
