What campers say

Tawas Point State Park offers scenic beaches, a prominent lighthouse, and a well-maintained campground popular with families. Visitors note shallow, swim-friendly water, long walking beaches, hiking trails, and wildlife or bird‑watching opportunities from observation platforms. Campsites are generally roomy, bathrooms are usually kept clean, and staff are described as friendly. Expect cool water early in the season and consider insect repellent in some years. A few visitors report occasional litter or cigarette debris on the beach and intermittent noise from neighboring campers; these issues appear infrequent but are worth considering when planning a stay.

📖 About This Campground

Tawas Point State Park in East Tawas Michigan has been referred to as the Cape Cod of the Midwest. The partial and primitive (no water, electric, or sewer) hookup RV and tent campground is located on Tawas Bay where the water is shallow and warm for swimming. In the park is the Tawas Point Lighthouse which serves as the sole representative of a true Victorian-era style station on the Great Lakes.
