📖 About This Campground

Swauk Campground is a serene, first-come, first-served campsite nestled in a grove of large Ponderosa Pine and western Larch trees within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Located approximately 26 miles east of Cle Elum, Washington, along U.S. Highway 97, it offers a peaceful retreat for campers seeking a rustic experience in the heart of the Cascades.

  • Campsites: 19 single campsites and 2 double campsites

  • Amenities:

    • Vault toilets

    • Picnic tables

    • Fire rings (Note: A Stage Two Fire Ban is in effect, prohibiting campfires and open flame cooking with wood, charcoal, or wood pellets. Propane gas can be used if it has an on/off switch.)

    • No potable water available at the campground

    • No electrical or sewage hookups

  • Season: Typically open from late May to mid-September

  • Hiking: Access to the Sculpture Rock Loop Trail, which begins and ends at the campground.

  • Wildlife Viewing: Observe local wildlife in their natural habitat.

  • Winter Sports: In the winter months, the area transforms into a Sno-Park offering 92 kilometers of non-motorized trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. A Sno-Park permit is required.

We stayed here while passing through the area overnighted in a 38 ft Class A we paid for the double site which was I believe six and seven and basically had the park to ourself is one tenter inside and one down by the pond but otherwise it was quiet for us this is next to the roadway if you're in a tent this would be a terrible place to park because the traffic on this road is very busy with a lot of semi trucks so the noise definitely did start early we had our fans on so it didn't bother us much but nonetheless it would be an issue beautiful spot there's hiking trails here really really great place to Camp one or two nights
