Rough Rider State Park, just outside Medora and near the south entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, offers roomy, mostly level campsites with strong views of Badlands bluffs and the Little Missouri River. Many sites have 30A/50A electric hookups; potable water spigots and a dump station are available but sites generally lack water/sewer, so plan to fill tanks before parking. The park supports tents, RVs and equestrian camping, and the Maah Daah Hey trail runs through the area. Facilities include vault toilets and upgraded hot-water showers that are generally clean. Expect warm afternoons, some shaded sites, and friendly staff.
