Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area offers peaceful, wildlife-rich shoreline and good fishing, especially for catfish, bluegill, crappie and bass, with occasional larger species reported. South lake has functional boat ramps, docks, parking, pavilions and restrooms, while north-side access is more limited for boats. The area is popular for shore fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching (bald eagles, hawks) but visitors note seasonal nuisances like gnats and ongoing litter problems that affect habitat. Facilities are basic (a small building with pit toilets). Bring supplies, pack out trash, and expect varied conditions depending on season and water levels.
