What campers say
Shepard State Park offers a peaceful, well‑maintained coastal-woodland setting with boardwalks and trails through marshes that attract birds, turtles, crabs and occasional alligators. Campsites are roomy and shaded, bathhouses are reported clean, and the park includes amenities such as kayak and boat launches, a disc‑golf course, playground, dog park and primitive sites. Staff are generally helpful. Expect a relaxed, nature‑focused stay, but note tradeoffs: cell service can be spotty, on‑site laundry is limited and consistent Wi‑Fi isn’t yet available, and some individual sites vary in levelness.
