Sharon Johnston Park in New Market Alabama provides full and partial hookup RV and tent camping in a community managed park.
What campers say
Sharon Johnston Park offers spacious, level camping and RV sites and is praised for clean restrooms, hot showers with good water pressure, and an up-to-date laundry room. The park's scenery — wooded trails, a stream with small waterfalls, lake, rustic bridge and old cabins — makes it popular for walks, photography and family outings. Amenities include a public pool with lifeguard, playground, stocked fishing pond and frequent community events and festivals with food trucks and vendors. Visitors note a few practical tradeoffs: limited nighttime lighting (good for stargazing), occasional maintenance needs, no onsite vending or drinking-water stations, and some areas with poison ivy; the park gate locks at night.

★★★☆☆
SJP has a quiet, well-kept campground run by Madison County, Alabama. Most sites are full hookup, a few are water and electricity only. The pull through sites are not shaded. Back -in sites are nicely shaded. Many sites are long term. Sites can accommodate large RVs. Bathhouses are clean but old. The park itself is large with a small lake, wedding pavilion, children’s playground, a swimming pool ( extra charge) and beautiful grounds. It is located about 15 miles outside of Huntsville, with its Space and Rocket Center and other attractions.
