Shady Cove Group Campground is a set of three roomy group sites near Big Bear that’s accessible from Southern California. Each site has nearby parking, picnic tables, charcoal grills and separate vaulted toilets; a spigot is available but the water is not potable. The layout suits families, scouts and larger groups, with good spacing between sites, nearby trailheads, rock formations and scenic Keller Peak views. Snow Valley ski slopes and Big Bear Lake are a short drive away. Expect dusty conditions at times and occasional strict fire restrictions that can prohibit campfires.
