What campers say

Salmon Creek Campground sits in scenic Tahoe National Forest beneath the Sierra Buttes, with a memorable mountain drive and easy access to hiking and nearby alpine lakes. Campsites vary from fairly private to more closely spaced; many sites are large enough for RVs but there are no hookups. Facilities are basic—pit toilets and no showers—and a few visitors report discolored or particulate-filled tap water, with a dump station about ten minutes away. The campground is generally quiet and well maintained, though occasional road noise and inconsistent reservation availability have been mentioned. Best for those who prioritize scenery over full amenities.
