What campers say

Rapid City RV Park & Campground offers a convenient base for exploring Rapid City and the Black Hills, with well-maintained grounds, updated bath/laundry facilities, and staff frequently described as friendly and helpful. The park provides amenities such as a pool, laundry, and a small on-site store, and has a mix of RV sites, cabins and motel-style rooms. Practical tradeoffs: some guests reported inconsistent Wi‑Fi, occasional maintenance issues (hot water outages, loose cabin fixtures), limited parking for very large vehicles, and variable charges when extending stays. Overall it’s a tidy, service-oriented park with easy access to nearby attractions.

📖 About This Campground

Rapid City RV Park & Campground in Rapid City South Dakota is set off of US 16 as you ascend out of town. The park is terraced into the hillside with paved roads and packed gravel sites. The RV sites range from large to average and can handle large to small RVs. The park show signs of recent maintenance with the overall location as "okay" but it's not up to top quality conditions. RV sites are a bit rough and there's a mix of long and short-term guests. In addition there are small RV and tent sites down a hillside accessed via a paved or dirt road (depending upon approach). The park does tend to have a large number of large RVs in it. Located in a scenic setting the park is located on the hill side in the foothills of the Blackhills with majestic views looking back over the plains of South Dakota (note most sites do not have this view - you need to walk to the rear of the park to view it). Caution is required getting in and out of the park as the speed limit along US 16 is 55 and there's limited sight distance for vehicles approaching from the South. When driving the park from Rapid City watch for the turn closely as there is only a small break in the center divider and no clear markings that you are there. The park has a nice pool area, small playground, small store, restrooms, showers and public areas. Formerly known as the Lazy J RV Park.
