What campers say

Prairie Dog State Park offers well‑kept, varied campgrounds with generally large, level sites suitable for RVs and tents. Prairie Dog Campground tends to have more paved, pull‑through sites while Shady Rest is older with gravel, back‑in, shadier sites. Amenities include clean restrooms and basic showers, picnic tables, grills, a beach, boat ramp, fishing, trails, and abundant wildlife (prairie dogs, many birds, occasional owls). Sites can be popular and limited; hookups vary and some sites may lack sewer. Staff are described as friendly, and the park is quiet and scenic — good for relaxing or water‑based activities.
