Powhatan State Park offers easy access to the James River with popular kayaking and tubing options, riverside benches, and varied woodland trails. The family-friendly park includes a playground and well-maintained campsites that are large, tree-shaded and fairly private, with water and electric at many sites. Bathhouses, showers and laundry are reported clean. Cell service is generally good. Trails are mostly gentle but a few routes have steep sections that may challenge those with limited mobility. Expect a peaceful, scenic visit, though occasional distant road or train noise and a few uneven sites are possible tradeoffs.
