What campers say
Placid Lake State Park offers a scenic, family- and dog-friendly lakeside experience with clear, warm water and good opportunities for boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Campsites are generally spread out and quiet, with helpful park hosts and a functional boat ramp plus first-come docks. Practical trade-offs include pay showers (reported $1 for three minutes) and some restrooms/shower buildings located a walk from outer sites. Sites can be uneven and sometimes require leveling, and securing multiple adjacent sites may be difficult under the reservation system. Overall it’s a peaceful spot for water-focused camping.
