Picacho State Recreation Area in Winterhaven California is located North from Winterhaven on a 24-mile mostly unpaved road. The dirt road is passable for cars and vehicles with trailers and motorhomes but you need to be cautious during the summer because thunderstorms could cause flash flooding in the washes which could temporarily make short sections of the road impassable.
